Live-In Personal Assistant
We are looking to recruit energetic, reliable and caring people to help support our clients that live at home and aid them maintain their independence. Our clients are based across the UK and have all been affected by a spinal cord injury.
As a live-in personal assistant you will stay with the client in their home and assist them with their daily living. Working with someone with a spinal cord injury can be hugely rewarding and is often a very positive life changing experience.

The Role of the PA
Our clients have all been affected by a spinal cord injury and the role of personal assistant is to support them with their day-to-day living in order to help them maintain their independence and embrace the freedom of choice.
Personal assistants will live in the client’s home whilst working and will be directed by the client as to the level of support they need during the day.
Each client is different and will have a different routine just as each individual differs. Many personal assistants enjoy the variety within the role and the challenge of adapting to new environments and understanding the variety of needs and the consideration required for the individuals working and social life.
Our personal assistants live with a client for between 1- 3 weeks at a time supporting them with varying daily activities from getting out of bed, washing and toileting, cooking and cleaning, driving and not to mention their pursuit of leisure and hobbies.
Despite each care work position being different, there are some areas which are common across the majority of assignments which can give further insight into the role.
Personal care
- Washing, bathing, and dressing.
- Getting in and out of bed
- Bowel and Bladder management
- Personal hygiene and grooming
Domestic duties
- Shopping
- Cooking and serving meals
- Preparing drinks
- Laundry
- Housework including dusting and vacuuming
Day-To-Day Support
- Driving
- Support with paperwork
- Accompanying the client to social engagements or on holiday
- Looking after pets
- Maintenance of equipment
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
- English language
- DBS required (paid for by TLC)
Training
Successful candidates are required to attend our training course which will develop their knowledge in the field of care and cover subjects which are specific to the needs of our clients.
During the training you will also have the opportunity to meet someone living with a spinal cord injury which will give you the chance to ask questions about the role of a personal assistant or any issue relating to living with a spinal cord injury.
